What they didn’t tell you about vitamin D

Aloha everyone, for those of you who don't know me, my name is Cami Talulah and I'm a Health & Wellness Coach.  I talk about this every year so it will either be a reminder to you or a call to action.  You probably heard talks around Vitamin D . . the deficiency or how to get more in your diet.

First things first
Get tested to find out where you stand. The 25-hydroxy vitamin D test is the most accurate way to measure how much vitamin D is in your body. The normal rage is 30-80.

Why is this so important?
According to Dr. Michael Holick, translational physician scientist who has been making seminal discoveries in the field of vitamin D and, author of the Vitamin D Solution. It is estimated that 50-70% of children/adults are vitamin D deficient and we are learning that diabetes, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, hypertension, heart disease, infectious diseases and even common cancers have been associated with vitamin D deficiency.

How is it treated?
Usually with supplementation, per Dr. Joseph Mercola, an alternative physician, and author of several books, supplemental vitamin D comes in two forms: Ergocalciferol (vitamin D2) and Cholecalciferol (vitamin D3). According to the latest research, D3 is approximately 87 percent more potent in raising and maintaining vitamin D concentrations and produces 2 to 3 fold greater storage of vitamin D than does D2.

Also vitamin D3 is converted 500 percent faster than vitamin D2.  Let me say that again.  .  . D3 is converted 500 percent faster than vitamin D2.

It is vital to get your vitamin D level checked. Inquire with your doctor about being tested at your next appointment or yearly check up.

Naturally yours,

Cami Tallulah
